THE BOWLINE BAG

Skill level:
> Advanced (skiving required for the turned edges version)
> Intermediate (if you skip the turned edges)
> Leather for the bag: 1.6mm thickness (4oz), must be soft temper. The two closure straps can be also from firmer leather: 1.6-1.8mm (4-4.5oz), medium to stiff temper
> For the body of the bag you need a leather panel that is ~ 54 by 16cm (~22 by 7in)
> Leather for the handle: round leather cord that is 4-5mm (10-12oz) in diameter and 140cm (~55in) long. This will result in a standard ~120cm long handle (47in) for on-shoulder and cross-body carry. If the bag will be carried as a backpack you need 170-175cm (~67-69in) long cord.
Pattern specific tools/materials:
> 1mm, 2mm, 3mm, 5mm and 10mm hole punches
> 2x button studs – 8mm or 9mm cap size (if you use smaller size make sure to reduce the 5mm holes on the long closure strap accordingly)
> 1x snap button - up to 12.5mm diameter (1/2in)
Basic Instructions
> Print pattern at 100% and verify size using the Print Accuracy Test.
Measure and cut on the outside edge of the lines.
> Stitching holes in the pattern are 3mm from the edge (unless mentioned otherwise in the instructions) and spaced at 3.85mm.
> Please read through the full Assembly Instructions before commencing the build.
