This is a leather PDF pattern to create a leather bag for everyday use.
The Catamaran Bag is a turned-style bag, meaning it's stitched with the flesh side out and then flipped inside out.
This technique reveals the leather's grain side while concealing the stitches inside the bag. The bag template features two separate compartments, joined like saddle bags and held by the shoulder strap - two bags in one!
Mixing different leather colors for the body, front and back panels, and the closure allows for fun and stylish combinations. The pattern also comes with a Phone Pocket version in which the Closure panel is bigger and creates a pocket on the back of the bag for your phone.

THE CATAMARAN BAG

Bag dimensions:
25cm by 18cm (~10in by 7in)
Skill level: Advanced
Leather:
> 1.2-1.4mm thickness (3-3.5 oz), medium to soft temper. If you go up to 1.4mm, go with soft leather.
> You will need a ~41/27cm (~16/11in) leather panel for the main body of the bag. For all pattern pieces you will need ~3sq feet of leather.
> 2.8-3mm (7-7.5oz) thick, 20mm (5/8 inches) wide and 140cm (~55in) long strap. The strap leather must be stiff.
Pattern specific tools/materials:
> 2mm, 3mm and 5mm hole punches
> 3 x Button Studs – 8mm cap size recommended (1 for the closure and 2 for the strap). If you choose different size studs, make sure to adjust the holes punched onto the panels and strap to match your studs’ size.
Basic Instructions
> Print pattern at 100% scale and verify size using the Print Accuracy Test.
> Measure and cut on the outside edge of the lines.
> Stitching holes in the pattern are spaced at 4mm and are 3mm off the edges.
> Please read the Assembly Instructions in full before commencing with the build.
