This is a printable PDF pattern to create The Becket Bag.
This pattern is a light zipper bag for everyday essentials with a woven front. 100% vintage vibes! :)
You can also make a handheld zipper clutch version (or even a simpler clutch if you skip the woven strips and keep the front panel plain without the holes). The bag can be carried on-shoulder or cross-body and gives a strong vintage, handmade vibe.
The front being the focal point of the design will really pop if you use leather with different colors for the vertical and horizontal strips. Have fun making the Becket Bag & Clutch with my leather PDF pattern and step-by-step instructions with in-progress pictures!

THE BECKET BAG

Bag dimensions:
22cm (~8.7in) by 14.5cm (~5.7in)
Skill level: Advanced (skiving with a French Skiver is required)
Leather:
> Leather for the main panels: 1.2-1.4mm thickness (3-3.5oz), soft to medium temper. If you use 1.4mm go with a soft temper.
> Leather for the leather strips: 1-1.2mm thickness (2.5-3oz), soft temper.
> Leather for the handle: round leather cord that is 4-5mm (10-12oz) in diameter and 150cm (~60in) long. This will result in a standard ~120cm long handle (47in) for on-shoulder and cross-body carry. A non-leather alternative to the leather cord that you can also use is paracord, again 4-5mm in diameter. :)
> For the handheld clutch version, you will need 2 leather strips - 5mm wide and 25cm long - instead of the leather cord mentioned above.
For the bag shown in the instructions I have used 1.2mm medium temper leather for the panels & 1.2mm soft temper leather for the strips.
Pattern specific tools/materials:
> 15mm hole punch
> French skiver
> 20cm (7.9in) #5 or #6 closed end zipper. #5 and #6 refer to width of the zipper “chain” – 5mm or 6mm respectively.
Basic Instructions
> Print pattern at 100% scale and verify size using the Print Accuracy Test.
Measure and cut on the outside edge of the lines.
> Stitching holes in the pattern are spaced at 4mm. Distance from edges is mentioned on the pattern itself and in the assembly instructions. Please read through the full Assembly Instructions before commencing the build.
